RIOTOUS is a nomadic choir that uses the human voice to explore collective care and dialogue. We create assemblies that listen as much as they speak, trusting that shared vocalising can create fleeting moments of radical togetherness. With a raw, DIY post‑punk attitude we use our bodies, megaphones and drum machines as our main instruments and push the boundaries of vocal sound.
Working at the crossroads of experimental music, urban intervention and live art, we turn interviews, memories and personal stories into sonic gestures. RIOTOUS projects songs, spoken word and snippets of everyday life onto streets, plazas and concrete. From a queerfeminist perspective we magnify quiet, unheard or silenced voices and transform public spaces into resonant commons.
Riotous is inspired by the following meanings: full of energy, loud and uncontrolled, existing or occurring in large amounts, likely to start a peaceful riot
